The Ohio Library Council's 2005 Annual Conference is shaping up to be one of our best ever and you will not want to miss it! Exciting, thought provoking, and nationally known keynote speakers, a wealth of valuable and timely program offerings, and an assortment of fun events await you at the conference. Our Program, Local Arrangements, and Exhibits Committees in collaboration with OLC staff have been hard at work for many months doing everything they can to make our “Family Reunion” a total success. There are several things that will set this event apart from others, including the “Endless Possibilities” track that focuses on the OCLC Environmental Scan and the return of the vendor Exposition to the conference. I hope that you will make plans now to attend our last annual conference and come celebrate with your friends and colleagues at the 2005 Ohio Library Family Reunion.

On behalf of the Program Committee, welcome to the 2005 OLC Annual Conference. We have planned a full roster of programs offering something for every member of our “Ohio Library Family.” These programs feature well-known authors, consultants, and library experts from across Ohio and across the U.S. Authors have been so popular at previous Annual Conferences that this year, we've added a track just for them! Our Author Track will feature authors of books for all age groups and interests including David Levithan, Margaret Peterson Haddix, poets Ann Townsend and David Baker, Paul Gaus, Tina Engler, Kevin Boyle, Jennifer Crusie, and our very own, Joe Palmer. Having two keynote speakers was so successful last year that we have decided to invite three this year. Our Wednesday afternoon keynote speaker is Stephen Abram, President of the Canadian Library Association and Vice President of Innovation for the Sirsi Corporation. Omar Wasow, cyberspace pioneer, NBC Internet Analyst, and founder of BlackPlanet.com will be our Thursday morning keynote speaker to kick off the exciting “Endless Possibilities” track. Our Friday morning keynote speaker is Susan Nutter, Library Journal's Librarian of the Year for 2005. Other highlights include Rachel Singer Gordon, Bill Barnes, Thomas Hennen Jr., Jim Gill, Candace Morgan, and Anita Silvey. I would like to thank the members of the Program Committee, Lori Hensley and Wayne Piper of OLC, and Conference Chair Roger Miller for their guidance and hard work in planning this year's programs.

What do you get if you cross a great trade show with an excellent continuing education opportunity? Ohio Library Council's Annual Conference! I promise you that this event is one that you don't want to miss.

As chair of the Exhibits Committee, I want to extend my most cordial invitation to you to attend this year's Conference and experience the joyful reuniting of the Trade Show and the Annual Conference. After working together for four years to organize a successful Trade Show for OLC, the Exhibits Committee has come together once again to help plan an exciting and memorable reunion of these events. We are delighted with the results, and we hope you will be, too.

Many of the elements that were in the Trade Show (gifts, prizes, food, fun!) continue to be included in the Exhibits at the Conference, but the Exhibits Committee has devised some new and intriguing additions that will delight and surprise you.

As part of the OLC “family,” mark your calendars and make your plans to be a part of the 2005 Ohio Library Family Reunion on October 5-7, 2005 at the Hyatt Regency and Greater Columbus Convention Center's Battelle Hall in Columbus. See you there!
