Staying at the Conference Hotel Saves You Money!

Did you know that by staying at the Hyatt Regency Columbus you are helping to keep other costs associated with the conference low? Recently, the hotel industry has faced increasing economic pressures resulting in a host of discount Web sites and other entities offering discount hotel rates - some of these discounts could be lower than the group rate negotiated by the OLC. On the surface it may seem like a good deal to get the cheaper room rate, however there are some considerations you should keep in mind.

The OLC estimates the number of hotel rooms that will be needed by its members for the conference. Contracts are signed with the conference hotel to hold those rooms for use by attendees. If the contracted hotel room block is not met, the OLC faces penalty fees and these fees could greatly impact the services delivered to members and, in turn, impact registration rates. There are many advantages to using the conference headquarters hotel for rooms including:

  • Attendees are assured of a room if reservations are made while the OLC holds the block.
  • Hotel rooms are in the most convenient location to the conference.
  • Attendee safety is addressed.
  • Exceptional group rates are negotiated for members.
  • Attendees are assured of a full-service hotel that has been inspected by the OLC.

The benefit to the OLC can also be considered as a benefit to the individual attendee. The OLC is given a reduced meeting room rental fee if the block of hotel rooms is met. This allows for an even greater variety of educational programs at the conference. The OLC encourages you to stay at the Hyatt Regency Columbus to ensure that your conference experience is the best that it can be!
