First-time OLC Attendee?
If you are a first-time OLC Convention and Expo attendee, you may have questions as you prepare for the Columbus event. Some of the most anticipated questions are:
What to wear?
Suggested attire is business casual. Temperatures in the meeting rooms vary greatly, we recommend layered clothing. Comfortable shoes are a must.
What to do during the day?
The “tracks” listed in your program are designed to help you determine which programs best match your area of expertise and interest. But don't feel like you need to go to all (or any) programs listed in the track for your area. The OLC Convention and Expo is a time to explore and learn about all aspects of librarianship. Also don't forget to set aside plenty of time to visit the exhibits.
What to do in the evening?
Many attendees participate in the scheduled activities. It is a good time to network with colleagues and friends, and the Local Arrangements Committee has planned activities they feel attendees will enjoy. Some attendees, however, will prefer to explore Columbus on their own with just a few colleagues and friends. Both are entirely acceptable and enjoyable. Be sure to visit the Hospitality Desk where committee members have assembled a variety of information to assist you in your plans.
The primary goal of the OLC Convention and Expo is to provide attendees with an informative and enjoyable experience. If you have questions as you prepare for the event, please contact me. I will assist you in making sure your convention experience is a positive one.
