Speakers from across the country and right here in Ohio will present the best thinking, best practices, and best entertainment going!
Each day has its own keynote session: futurist Thomas Frey on Wednesday, digital guru David Lee King on Thursday, and coach of all things creative Artie Isaac on Friday. Additionally, you'll find hours of programming along nine different learning tracks. Toledo Blade Outdoors Editor Steve Pollick and graphic artist Jeff Basting will speak at the Wednesday luncheon. Storyteller and writer Shutta Crum will speak at the Thursday luncheon. Continuing a long-standing tradition, OLC's Awards and Honors luncheon is on Friday.
Wednesday night marks the opening reception in the Exhibit Hall. The Expo Committee is putting together a fun evening; let's just say it's the place to see and be seen. In addition to vendor booths, the Living Room (Exhibit Hall) has a hospitality area, E-mail Café, Convention Store, autograph area, OLC Gadget Gallery and more.
We've ditched the standard banquet in favor of an all-convention reception at Toledo-Lucas County's Main Library. Live hot jazz, light fare, dessert, coffee, and cash bar make this the place to be! Tour the building, enjoy the Friends of the Library store, check out the Mazza exhibit Speak! in the Gallery, and catch up with your colleagues.
Other featured events include the Pat Carterette Tribute 5K Joyous Jog and Merry March, breakfasts for Kent State and Wayne State alumni, and a tour of the newly renovated Kent Branch library and mobile internet teaching lab “cybermobile.” Have you heard about Battledecks? It was extremely popular at the last two ALA conferences. Emcee Don Boozer guarantees a good time for all who attend.
I look forward to seeing you in Toledo!
