Purpose and Objectives
The Library Development Committee is responsible for reviewing, updating, and promoting the Standards for Public Library Service in Ohio. The Committee also fosters the discussion and implementation of methods for library development within the State of Ohio.
Unit Objectives
In addition to the goals and objectives in the Ohio Library Council Long-Range Plan,
1. The Library Development Committee will revise the Standards for Ohio 's Public Libraries.
a. Committee members will investigate standards for public libraries in other states.
b. Library administrators outside of the committee will be selected to aide in the draft process.
c. Depending on how the work progresses, a retreat may be planned to facilitate work.
d. Committee members will develop a program for the 2009 Convention in Cleveland , Ohio .
2. Once new Standards have been developed, Committee Chair will present them to the OLC board for approval and will, at that time, request that the Standards be made available to anyone on the OLC website. Initial investigations indicate that the Standards of other states are available to anyone.
