Purpose and Objectives
The Library Education Committee exists to support OLC's educational programs through research into areas such as core competencies and trends in delivery of education, and to recommend the development of programs focused on emerging topics of interest and concern to the library community.
Unit Objectives
In addition to the goals and objectives of the Ohio Library Council Long-Range Plan,
1. To encourage and promote competencies as a base for development of training within the organization and how to adapt and use them for staff and library development.
2. To conduct a comprehensive survey of how and if Ohio libraries are using the core competencies and their awareness of them. How they are using and training to the competencies.
3. To assist the OLC's Director of Professional Development and other OLC staff in reviewing and modifying the Program Submission Process.
4. To explore opportunities for incorporating the competencies into the workshops being developed by new or existing CE providers.
