Purpose and Objectives |
The purpose of the Library Services to the Institutionalized Division is to promote the interests and needs of librarians serving institutions in Ohio. These are librarians, library assistants, and outreach service providers whose responsibility is providing quality library services to people in institutions including jails, prisons, community–based correctional facilities, mental health facilities, juvenile correctional institutions and detention centers, and facilities for the developmentally disabled.
- Participate in Correctional Education Association of Ohio and State Council of Professional Educators educational events to provide programming of interest to librarians and support staff.
- Communicate with members of our Division through the use of email and letters.
- Submit a complete slate for nominations to the LSID action council.
- Plan for the 2011 Convention by preparing and submitting one program (Reentry Initiative, how libraries can help) and preparing a pamphlet to help connect institutional libraries with public libraries in their areas (additional service to the underserved populations of Ohio ).
- Finish pamphlet related to promoting institutional libraries and public libraries.
- Determine if it is advisable to remain a division or alter our course as a task force within the Outreach Division or another division through surveys, letters and other communications.
