OLC Purpose and Objectives

The purpose of the Management and Administration Division is to serve its members by creating opportunities to exchange ideas and information, and to build skills and knowledge in the following areas: Leadership, Planning, Management Principles, Trends, and obtaining and allocating funds

1. Growing Leaders - Leaders Growing: “The Year of the Library Manager”

Goal - Be proactive in professional development

  • Encourage use of on-line resources for professional growth and communication.

Goal - Collaborating with OLC on a recurring manager update and new manager training.

•  Prepare members to address challenges, identify and take advantage of any opportunities as quickly as possible.
•  Organize training and/or workshop to unveil the Policies Project results
•  Investigate developing a knowledge resource team
•  Continue to review and update the Administrators Handbook

2. Technology

Goal - Aid Membership in Advances of Technology and How to Manage Them

•  Collaborate with the Information Technology Division in developing programs dealing with new technologies and changing library practices.
•  Utilize established OLC communications, as well as newer forms (such as Facebook & Twitter) to communicate with membership.

3. Publications

Goal - Review and Update the Administrators Handbook

•  Distribute current Handbook to MAD Action Council Members and others identified to review and update.

OLC Annual Report

The Annual Report provides a record of Management and Administration Division's accomplishments based on the goals and objectives for the year.
