Purpose and Objectives |
The purpose of the Supportive Staff Division is to provide for the exchange of ideas and the assessment of employee concerns. In addition the division desires to provide educational and networking opportunities in areas of interest to the membership. Members of supportive staff include, but not limited to, circulation services, information services, technical services and office personnel.
Unit Objectives
In addition to the goals and objectives of the Ohio Library Council Long-Range Plan,
1. Promote a sense of professionalism among supportive staff members, and emphasize the need to envision and adapt to changes in the profession, by providing educational opportunities for division membership.
a. submit as many quality and timely programs as possible to chapter conferences
b. submit programs as needed to conferences, conventions, and other learning opportunities.
2. Provide a network of communication to supportive staff membership, in order to encourage the exchange and development of new ideas and discussion of issues that concern division members.
a. encourage consistent use of and contributions to the supportive staff blog by division members and others
b. find new ways to publicize the supportive staff blog to ensure that it reaches its target audience c. consistently update the supportive staff OLC Web site and further develop the site by creating a section featuring current news and helpful tips
3. Increase membership and member participation in the division.
a. send out monthly broadcast emails to division membership to encourage use of the supportive staff blog and website
b. welcome all new members of the division through email sent by the division coordinator
c. Invite division members to run for action council, and to submit program ideas for chapter and other programming
d. develop recruitment materials for distribution at OLC events
