Purpose and Objectives |
The purpose of the Supportive Staff Division is to provide a forum for library support staff for the exchange of ideas and the assessment of employee concerns, and to promote awareness of current library issues. In addition, the Supportive Staff division desires to motivate members and advance their professional growth through educational and networking opportunities. Members of supportive staff include, but are not limited to, circulation services, information services, children's services staff, information technologists, technical services and office personnel.
Unit Objectives
In addition to the goals and objectives of the Ohio Library Council Long-Range Plan,
1. Provide educational opportunities for division membership.
a. submit a variety of timely and quality programs to chapter conferences
b. submit programs as needed to other conferences and conventions
c. develop ideas for other learning opportunities such as a workshop for supportive staff
2. Consistently and effectively communicate with supportive staff division members
a. provide wide ranging, timely, and useful content to members via the supportive staff blog
b. write and electronically send out a quarterly newsletter
c. conduct a survey of division members
d. send out notification of events and programs to all division members via broadcast email
3. Market the supportive staff division to increase membership and member participation.
a. send out broadcast emails to division membership to encourage use of the supportive staff blog and website
b. develop recruitment materials such as a brochure and bookmark for distribution at OLC events
c. send follow up email and other materials such as the new brochure to OLC Supportive Staff Conference attendees, including information about the division and encouraging participation in division activities
d. invite members via email and newsletter to submit program ideas and present programs at OLC chapter conferences
e. create committees within the action council
