POSITION:

Bilingual Outreach Liason (Spanish Language).

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Part-time, temporary position up to 20 hours per week through 2003.

RATE OF PAY:

$15.68 per hour.

SCHEDULE:

Must be flexible and able to work days, evenings and weekends.

JOB DUTIES:

Serve as liason and translator to immigrant students and their families at libraries, community centers, social service agencies, and schools. Initiate contact at sites where immigrants are being served. Provide selection ideas for world language and ESL materials. Tell stories aloud in two languages. Understand and promote the variety of library services available.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working with the Latino community (2-4 years preferred) and/or equivalent educational coursework; verbal and written fluency in Spanish and English; ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds; experience working with schools or social service agencies; ability to carry 20 pounds of books or equipment; valid driver's license. Reference and criminal background checks will be conducted.
