1/12/07 OLC Board Elects 2007 Officers
On January 12, the OLC Board of Directors elected its 2007 officers:
President:
Cindy Lombardo, Tuscarawas County Public Library
Cindy Lombardo is Director of the Tuscarawas County Public Library. She previously held positions as Director of the Orrville Public Library and the Ashland Public Library, and she also was Children's Librarian at Medina County District Library. She earned a doctoral degree from The Ohio State University, a Master of Library Science from Kent State University, a bachelor's degree from Ashland University and is currently enrolled in the Kent State University Master of Public Administration program. She has been on the OLC board since 2003, serving as Vice President/President Elect in 2006. She is a member of ALA, American Library Services to Children Division (ALSC), ALSC's 2008 Newbery Committee, Young Adult Services Association (YALSA), American Association of University Women, Public Library Association, and Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA). She has been married for more than 30 years. She and her husband are involved in collie rescue, and they currently have 11 dogs and three cats.
Vice President/President Elect:
Margaret Danziger, Toledo-Lucas County Public Library
Margaret Danziger is the Deputy Director of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library (1985-present). Her previous positions at the library include Business Department Manager and Cataloger. She also was Acquisitions Librarian at the University of Illinois and Circulation Librarian at Cornell University. She received her Master of Library Science from the University of Illinois as well as a bachelor's degree in music education from the College of Wooster and a bachelor's degree in music from Bowling Green State University. She has served on many OLA/OLC committees including being Co-Chair of the Technology Task Force for OLC's Library Futures Initiative and was chosen OLC's 2005 Librarian of the Year. She has served on the following PLA committees: Legislation, Technology in Public Libraries, and Services to Multicultural Populations. She is a member of American Library Association, Public Library Association, Library Administration and Management Association, Toledo Symphony League, and Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee. Danziger expects to carry the same passion that she has for the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library into the position of Vice President/President Elect of OLC for the benefit of all Ohio 's public libraries.
Treasurer:
Scott Shafer, Lima Public Library
Scott Shafer is the Director of the Lima Public Library (2000-present). His previous positions at the library include Assistant Director and Head of Public Services. Also, he was the Director of the Wellsville Carnegie Public Library before working for the Lima Public Library. He received his Master of Library Science and his Bachelor of Arts from Kent State University. Shafer was Coordinator of the OLC Management and Administration Division and served on the OLC Nominating Committee as well as the OLC Membership Committee. He is a member of ALA and PLA. Locally, Shafer is a Charter Member of the Allen County United Tax Entities; President of the Lima Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors; and a member of the West Central Ohio Regional Development Round Table.
