1/16/07 Financial Report Workshops for Library Accounting Personnel
In cooperation with the OLC Library Accounting Division, the Auditor of State's Office is again offering free training on the preparation of the annual financial report described in AOS Bulletin 2005-002 as "look-alike" financial statements. These statements are prepared using the cash (or modified cash) basis of accounting but look like they were prepared using generally accepted accounting principles.
This year's session will begin with a brief introduction to the requirements of the new look alike statements. The introduction is designed to provide a basic understanding of the statements to those who haven't prepared them before and to refresh the understanding of those who have. The remainder of the session will focus on the preparation of Management's Discussion and Analysis and the Notes to the Financial Statements. You will review in detail the guidelines for the preparation of the MD&A and the Notes, provide "real life" examples, and demonstrate where the numbers in the examples come from.
Lunch will be on your own. Attendees will be given information about nearby restaurants.
