2/5/07 Libraries Impacted by Recently-Enacted Public Records Legislation
Numerous changes to Ohio 's Public Records Law and related statutes were recently enacted by the Ohio General Assembly through HB 9. Although signed into law by the governor in December 2006, specific provisions in the bill delay the effective date of implementation until September 29, 2007. Public libraries should be aware of provisions applicable to their records and prepare for the implementation of the new law. OLC's legal counsel has prepared a memorandum regarding the provisions applicable to Ohio libraries.
