02/21/13 - Save the Date for Embracing eBooks -- July 17

eBooks are everywhere and they're here to stay. However, managing all the competing (and ever-changing) interests involved, user requests, publisher pricing models, the increasing variety of service platforms, and all the devices, have many libraries (and librarians!) struggling to keep up.

What's an engaged but overworked information professional to do?

Enter Embracing eBooks - a daylong conference aimed at providing public service staff at all levels with a well-rounded picture of the current state of eBooks and eReaders in libraries.
Attendees of this event will have the chance to:

  • listen to other professionals share best practices and network with colleagues about their successes and challenges,
  • discuss 'big picture' topics in the eBook world like legal issues, digital rights management, and publisher relations,
  • improve skills to better assist patrons through our hands-on eReader lab.

Embrace the rapid changes in eReaders and the eBooks landscape. Mark your calendars and plan to attend on July 17 at the Holiday Inn Worthington! Registration opens May 1.

Embracing eBooks is presented through the partnership of the State Library of Ohio, Ohio Library Council, and OHIONET. This event is funded in part through an Institute of Museum and Library Services LSTA grant awarded by the State Library of Ohio.
