2/26/10 OLC New Directors Workshops

For the past 13 years, the OLC's new directors event has helped more than 165 public library directors adjust to the responsibilities they face in their new roles. The OLC is pleased to announce a four-part series of workshops entitled Creating Thriving Library Communities: A Series for New Directors. This series of workshops includes intensive work with everyone from OLC staff and its legal counsel to seasoned directors and subject matter experts in various library fields.

The main topics that will be covered in the first session on March 18 include:

  • The Ohio Library Community
  • Legal Issues: Q and A
  • Human Resources: The Director's Dual Role
  • On Being a Director: One Year Later - William Rutger, Milan-Berlin Township Public Library

Registration for the entire series or just the first session can be found online.

The OLC encourages library directors with less than three years of experience as a director, interim or acting directors, or library staff with some management or administrative experience who are contemplating a career move to a director's position to attend.
