03/05/13 - OLC Legislative Day: Final Preparations/Schedule Change
Although there’s a forecast for inclement weather in some parts of the state, the Ohio Library Council’s Legislative Day event will take place tomorrow, Wed., March 6. Registration, general sessions, House Speaker Batchelder’s presentation, and the presentation of the Carnegie Award will take place at the Westin Hotel, 310 S. High St., Columbus.
Please note that changes have been made to the day's agenda to accommodate schedule changes for Speaker Batchelder and Sen. Beagle. The agenda is as follows (changes noted in red):
Registration opens; refreshments available throughout the morning.

Background materials. On the OLC website, attendees can find copies of Preparing for Legislative Day, the 2013 OLC Legislative Platform, and Legislative Day Talking Points which should be reviewed prior to the event.
Fact Sheets. Attendees are encouraged to share fact sheets about public library services and funding while visiting with legislators. The Fact Sheets and a whitepaper on public library funding are available on the OLC website and will be available at registration.
Cancellation of legislator visits. If you are unable to attend Legislative Day due to inclement weather or for any reason, please be sure to notify the offices of the legislators whom you had planned to visit so that they can adjust their schedules accordingly.
Overnight Accommodations. If you would like to travel on Tuesday and stay overnight, the Westin Hotel has extended a special room rate starting at $119 plus tax for OLC Legislative Day attendees. However, only a limited number of rooms are available. To make a reservation, call Craig Tremblay, Westin Catering Manager, at (614) 220-7034 (prior to 6 p.m. on Tuesday) and be sure to mention that you are attending the Ohio Library Council event.
