4/5/10 OLC Participates in ALA's Library Snapshot Day

The OLC is encouraging Ohio's public libraries to participate in Library Snapshot Day during National Library Week, April 11-17, 2010. The OLC asks that libraries choose a day during National Library Week when a variety of events and programs are planned and document those activities with photographs. Libraries can load their photos to Flickr and post them to the Ohio Library Council's Library Snapshot Day group. Libraries that do not already have Flickr accounts can create a Flickr account or send the photos directly to OLC (mbetts@olc.org) for posting.
The ALA developed Library Snapshot Day as a way for libraries to give an accurate "picture" of what goes on in public libraries across the country. The concept originated in New Jersey as a joint effort between the New Jersey Library Association and the New Jersey State Library. Since then many other states have emulated the effort. See examples of states that have created Library Snapshot Days.
