4/9/10 Beverly Cain Named New State Librarian
At its meeting on April 8, the State Library of Ohio Board of Trustees named Ohio Library Council President Beverly Cain as the new State Librarian. Cain, currently the Director of the Portsmouth Public Library, will assume her new duties at the State Library effective June 1.
Cain will fulfill her role as OLC President through the OLC Board of Directors meeting on May 14. As the new State Librarian, Cain will resign from her position as OLC President and her seat on the OLC Board of Directors. She will be an invited guest to attend the OLC Board meetings.
Per the OLC Code of Regulations, Molly Carver, OLC Vice President/President-Elect, will assume the position of OLC President upon Cain's resignation. Carver, Director of the Bellevue Public Library, will serve as OLC President through the remainder of Cain's uncompleted term (through December 2010) as well as her elected term through December 2011.
