6/1/11 State Budget Update: No Changes in Public Library Funding in Senate Version
The Senate Finance Committee released its version of HB 153, the state's FY12-13 budget on Tues., May 31. Upon initial review, there appears to be no changes to the Public Library Fund (PLF) in the Senate version of the budget as compared to budget bill approved by the House of Representatives. The bill continues to fund the PLF at 95% of the FY11 amount, and funds OPLIN and the Library Services for the Blind and Physically Disabled through the PLF with no reimbursement from the General Revenue Fund - amounting to another 1.5% decrease in the PLF distribution to libraries. The OLC has not completed its analysis of the language regarding the Tangible Personal Property Tax reimbursement. More details will be provided as soon as the analysis is completed.
The Senate will vote on the final version sometime next week. The bill will then go to conference committee to work out differences between the House and Senate versions.
