06/22/05 ALA News - Patriot Act Vote
Nine Ohio members of Congress voted last week in favor of getting rid of a Patriot Act provision that makes it easier for law-enforcement authorities to examine library records. Republican Reps. Gillmor, LaTourette and Ney joined democratic Reps. Brown, Jones, Kaptur, Kucinich, Ryan, and Strickland in supporting the measure. Voting against the amendment were Reps. Boehner, Chabot, Hobson, Oxley, Pryce, Regula, Tiberi, and Turner. The measure passed by a vote of 238-187.
