08/02/12 2013 OLC Convention and Expo Chair Appointed
The Ohio Library Council (OLC) Board of Directors has appointed Robyn Vittek, Assistant Youth Services Coordinator at Akron-Summit County Public Library (ASCPL), as chair of the 2013 Convention and Expo at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky.
"I am tremendously honored to be selected to Chair the 2013 Convention and Expo during such an exciting time," said Vittek. "Public libraries across the state and the country are in the midst of dynamic transformations to streamline operations while maintaining and developing excellent programs and services for their communities. It is more important than ever that library employees have opportunities to come together and determine how best to collaborate, communicate, and reassert their vital importance to their communities."
As Assistant Youth Services Coordinator at ASCPL, Vittek wears many hats, including community outreach, services to incarcerated youth, and services to teens. She has been an employee of ASCPL since 2002.
Vittek has served on several conference committees, including the 2012 State Library of Ohio/KSU-School of Library and Information Science Take 5! conference committee, the 2012 OLC Widen the Lens conference committee, and the 2009 and 2011 OLC Convention and Expo Programming Committees. She also served on the 2011 OLC Convention and Expo Ad Hoc Committee, charged with the task of making recommendations for future conferences.
Her leadership positions with the OLC have included Coordinator of the Young Adult Services Division Action Council and Coordinator of the Northeast Chapter Action Council. She is currently serving on the Library Education Committee.
Vittek was a 2010 ALA Emerging Leader and a 2012 Library Leadership Ohio participant.
