8/4/11 ODT Projects PLF Distributions through June 2013

The Ohio Department of Taxation (ODT) has issued its projection for the Public Library Fund (PLF) through June 2013 following the passage of the FY12-13 state budget (Am. Sub. HB 153) by the Ohio General Assembly.

From January through July 2011, the PLF distribution was based upon 1.97% of the state's general tax revenue. Beginning in August 2011 and continuing through June 2013, the monthly PLF distribution will be 95% of that same month in FY11 (August 2010 - June 2011), less approximately $4.9 million per year to fund OPLIN and the Library Services for the Blind and Physically Disabled (LSBPD). Deductions for OPLIN and LSBPD will be taken out in equal installments from the PLF each month during each fiscal year. For CY11, the ODT projects the statewide PLF distribution to total $364.7 million; for CY12, it will drop to approximately $344 million.

A complete explanation of the PLF calculations and the projected monthly PLF distribution by county are available on the ODT website.
