8/18/08 Wayne Piper Announces Retirement from OLC
Wayne Piper, OLC Director of Professional Development, has announced his retirement effective the end of 2008. Having just completed his 15th year on staff, he will be in the office through November 14 and use available vacation to finish the year.
Work has begun on a staff transition plan, including an analysis of the OLC's current and future professional development activities, reviewing and amending the current position description as appropriate, and drafting a job posting that will be used when candidates are sought for the position. Plans also are underway to retain Wayne 's services on an advisory basis for the 2009 OLC Convention & Expo and the orientation of the individual who will handle professional development activities in the future. He also is interested in continuing to assist with the creation of the OLC's consulting services and will provide library strategic planning facilitation consultation as his new schedule allows.
