10/17/07 Plan Ahead for Increase in Ohio's Minimum Wage
As library budgets are finalized for 2008, please note that Ohio's minimum wage will increase $0.15 to $7.00 per hour effective January 1. The net increase will produce a $6 weekly increase before taxes for a full-time worker.
The increase is a result of the minimum-wage constitutional amendment that Ohio voters approved in the November 2006 election. Also on Jan. 1, Ohio 's minimum-wage law will apply to employers grossing more than $255,000.
The state law does not apply to 14- and 15-year-old workers; the federal minimum (now $5.85) covers those workers.
