Expo

The Region's Largest Marketplace of Products and
Services for Libraries.

2008 Expo
September 12, 2008
Ohio Expo Center's Lausche Building
Columbus, Ohio

Approximately 130 companies and organizations exhibit with the OLC displaying a wide variety of products and services each year at the OLC Expo. The Expo attracts managers, decision-makers, and buyers from all of Ohio's 251 public libraries. The Expo is held every year and is held in conjunction with the biennial OLC Convention in odd numbered years (2009, 2011, etc.).

Attendee Profile

Today's public libraries provide a variety of services and products to their customers. Books are still the libraries' bread-and-butter, but they are now coupled with audio recordings, video recordings, digital media, and many other new technologies.

Like any well-run business, libraries have a wide support staff, ranging from human resources to facilities managers to technology gurus and each department has its own special needs. While the library director may be the person who signs the purchase orders, department heads and managers play critical roles in recommending the purchases needed to help the library function productively.

The professional and support library staff who attend the OLC Expo are managers, decisions-makers and buyers from all of the 251 Ohio public libraries. These libraries continue to receive more state funding support than any other public library system in the nation.

The OLC Expo consistently attracts an average of 500 “core” professional registrants who look to OLC as their prime source for industry information.

Features and Attractions

New this year! Author and/or Speaker presentations may be offered throughout the day to enhance the event for librarians. We are accepting proposals from vendors to provide these presentations. The goal is offer speakers that will appeal to a variety of librarians. We hope to work with you to add a no-conflict, valuable addition to the Expo which will attract more librarians to join us for the day. More information on this new feature is available. Submit your proposal today!

We are constantly looking for ways to enhance the Expo. The successful inclusion of the following events in 2006 made our decision to include them for 2008 a simple one:

  • Ohio Public Library Information Network's (OPLIN) Stakeholders meeting will be held from 9:00 am – 10:00 am. This annual presentation attracts Ohio public library directors and technology staff. It is a perfect event to enhance the OLC Expo!
  • OLC Annual Business Meeting will be held immediately following the OPLIN presentation. OLC members are invited to attend this brief meeting where organizational issues may be discussed. Again, a great way to attract more attendees to the show!
  • OLC Connects! is a display area for OLC's divisions and committees. Here attendees can learn about the work of OLC's various interest groups. Incorporation into the Expo adds fun and excitement to the day!
  • Vendor demos – We will once again offer a limited number of demo opportunities during the Expo day. Maximize your time by allowing multiple attendees to hear your message at one time. Give an overview of your product, answer questions or give a media presentation – something that is not always effective with traffic in your exhibit booth. Vendor demo sign-up information will be included in your booth confirmation packets which will be sent after your contract is processed.
